Ruth Mae Crews Davis of Norwalk, a former longtime resident of Port Chester, NY, died Monday, December 29, 2003, at Centennial House in Norwalk, CT, of complications from Alzheimer disease. She was 89. Born on January 12, 1914 in Chatham, VA, she was the daughter of the late Nanny and Willie Crews. Mrs. Davis was a Norwalk resident for the past six years. She is survived by one sister, Rosetta Wiggins of Trenton, New Jersey; three daughters: Hilda Gordon of Virginia Beach, VA; Jean Davis-French of Norwalk, CT; Valelrie M. Pryor of Atlanta, GA; one son, Roger McDonald of Manhattan, NY; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, William Earl Davis; one daughter, Barbara Jean Davis; one son, William Earl Davis, Jr.; three sisters: Gladys Martin, Marjorie Jones and Cora Davis; four brothers: Major Crews, Johnson Crews, Chester Crews and Lester Crews. Viewing hours will be on Friday, January 2, 2004 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Bethesda Baptist Church, 136 William Street, Port Chester, NY. Services will be held at Bethesda Baptist Church at 11:00 on Friday, January 2, 2004. Burial will follow in Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, NY. Downer Funeral Home in Norwalk in charge of arrangements.
