SMITH Mrs. Rose Smith, age 80 of Milford, passed away on Friday, February 08, 2008, originally from New Jersey, moved to Holliston, Mass to raise her five children, Steven Smith and his wife, Judy of Boulder, Colo., Richard Smith and his wife, Susan of Longmont, Colo., David Smith and his wife, Mary Lou of Winchester, Mass., Joanne Platt and her husband, Mark of Milford and she was predeceased by her son, Roy H. Smith Jr. Rose moved to Milford to live with her daughter, Joanne and Mark when her granddaughter Ashley Rose Coventry was born. Rose unselfishly gave her love to her children and always supported their decisions and dreams. Rose's passions included gardening, reading, and knitting. She knitted scarves, hats, and blankets for the Red Cross to distribute to the homeless. She lovingly knitted baby blankets for the Milford Hospital's Young Mothers Association. Rose made dear friends through her association with the Connecticut Audubon Nature Center, where she helped coordinate fund raising auctions, craft fairs, and bake sales. She had fun with the Red Hat Society Ladies and enjoyed spending time with her good friends. Her favorite place was Gulf Beach in Milford to walk and pray with God. She is also survived by a sister, Josephine Bardino; a brother, John Cat-apano; and a close cousin, Rose Squeo, all of New Jersey. A Gathering of Friends will be held Sunday, February 10, 2008 from 9 to 11 a.m., with a service to follow at 11 a.m. in the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford . Committal will be private. In lieu of flowers, Rose asked that contributions be made in memory of Roy H.
