Johnson, Robert W.April 12, 1912 - Feb. 8, 2008Robert W. Johnson, 95, Bradenton, formerly of Venice and East Peoria, Ill., died Feb. 8, 2008.Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at The Inn at Freedom Village in Bradenton. National Cremation Society & Memorial Center in Sarasota handled arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Violet; a daughter, Kathryn Lee of Longboat Key; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Barbara of Oshkosh, Wis.; and three grandchildren.Robert was born in Joliet, Ill., April 12, 1912, and was raised in East Peoria, Ill. He attended Bradley University and retired from Illinois Bell Telephone Co. as a communications consultant. Bob and Vi lived in East Peoria until moving to Venice in 1978 and to Bradenton in 1992. He was an active member of numerous social, civic and professional organizations and served as president of the Freedom Village Resident Council in 1997.Memorial contributions may be made to the scholarship fund at Freedom Village.
