->Robert Romeo Carter died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010. He was 87. Bob was the husband of the late Phyllis M. (St. Jacques) Carter and is survived by seven children, Stuart Carter of Fitchburg, Lynne Carter of Baton Rouge, La., and Barrington, R.I., Craig Carter and wife Bonnie David of North Easton, Jane Carter and husband Tony Doyle of New York, N.Y., Janet Carter of Arlington, Va., Erin Carter Grace Dugan and husband Brady Dugan of Arlington, Va., and Lycia Carter and husband Matthew Goodwin of Arlington, Va. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Lucas, Leland and Adam Carter, Elaine Moralez, Christopher Grace and Colleen Dugan, Noah, Seth, Jack and Emmeline Goodwin and Daniel Carter. He was predeceased by his grandson, Nathan Moralez. Bob grew up in Winnfield, La., and entered the Civilian Conservation Corps at the age of 16 after graduating as the valedictorian of his high school class. He was a highly decorated World War II veteran and the owner of Winnfield Associates. He was a longtime resident of Brockton and later Newport, Vt., and Arlington, Va. A memorial service will be held for him at the Sampson-Hickey-Grenier Funeral Home, at 309 Main St., Brockton, Saturday, Feb. 5, at 3 p.m., with a calling hour held prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
