GARLAND, ROBERT L., 91, Orlando, died on Sunday, January 8, 2006. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Garland moved to Orlando in 1946 after an Honorable Discharge from the US Marine Corps. Bob was a Civil Service employee for 33 years and retired from the Naval Underwater Research Division in Orlando as the Transportation Officer; a veteran of WWII; a former Deacon and a member of the College of Elders at the First Presbyterian Church, Orlando; a Charter member of the East Orlando Civitan Club; past president of the Winter Park Civitan Club; a past president of Toastmasters at the former Orlando Air Force Base; and a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Bob is survived by his wife, Margaret "Bro" Garland; son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Jane Garland, San Rafael, CA and son, David A. Garland, Japan. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 17, 3PM, at the Reformation Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church, Orlando. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Infant Child Care Center of the First Presbyterian Church, 106 East Church Street, Orlando, FL 32801, or to the charity of your choice.
