Rita V. Smith-Murray, of Walnut Hill, passed away on September 16, 2004 at Nyack Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born to Thomas and Ellen O'Halloran (nee Casey) on April 3, 1918 in New York City, she was the cherished wife of the late Johnny Smith and grandmother of the late Joan Smith. Rita is survived by her loving children: Elaine and Jim McNicholas, John and Irene Smith, Brian and Joan Smith and her wonderful grandchildren: Kristen and Michael Glynn, Jimmy and Maxine McNicholas, Meghan and Rich Scholl, Samantha and George Stohr, Stephanie and Rich Kennedy, Brian and Jennifer Smith, Kerri and Art Tornatore, five great-grandchildren and her very dear sister, Mary Teklovits. Rita took pride in her family and will always be remembered as a dear friend to all. Her quick wit and classic sense of humor brought countless smiles to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but her memory and spirit will live in our hearts forever. Friends may call Saturday 7-9 pm and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, GARNERVILLE. Rita's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 am in St. Gregory Barbarigo Church. Interment in the family plot will be private for the family.
