RAMONA KAYSMITH, 63 LAKELAND - Ramona Kay (Vardiman) Smith, 63, died Monday, July 30, 2012 in Lakeland due to complications of cancer. She was born March 27, 1949 in Alexandria, Indiana to the late Fred and Wanita (Etsler) Vardiman. She married Fred Smith July 10, 1971. At the time of Ramona's death, she was a member of the Lake Gibson Nazarene Church in Lakeland. She was the past President of the Imperial Bird Club, Chairperson of the Imperial Bird Expo and assisted her husband Fred, who was the Florida Regional Director of the American Federation of Aviculture. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Wanita Vardiman; a brother, Gifford Vardiman; three aunts, Dorothy Etsler, Marion and Gwen (Merland) Johnson; two uncles, Philip and John Etsler. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Fred; their daughter, Tammy; three aunts, Ann (Don) Glenn, Esther Miller, Dawn (Bob) Hunt; uncle, Jim (Bobbie) Etsler. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family in Ramona's memory for the continuing care of her daughter Tammy. The visitation will be Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Lake Gibson Church of the Nazarene in Lakeland, Fl. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM at the church.
