ALBION -- Ralph A. Lee left his earthly home on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013. Ralph was born in Pittsfield on Nov. 6, 1922, the son of Amos J. Lee and Leola Daggett Lee. Amos moved his family from Pittsfield to Albion in 1930, and Ralph graduated from Besse High School, class of 1941. Ralph was a member of the Greatest Generation and proudly served his nation, joining the Army Air Forces in January 1943, and serving in the Pacific theater in the communications field until his discharge in January 1946. He always said his best Christmas present ever was when he boarded the ship in Japan to sail home in 1945. Upon his return home he went to work with his brother, Ellis, for the State Highway Commission and later went to work for Lee Bros. Construction Co. when it was established in 1947, working there until 2001. With the work ethic of most of his generation, he was excited to go to work for Lakeview Lumber Co., where he was employed until January 2011. Ralph was a long-time member of Central Lodge 45 AF & AM in China and a member of American Legion Grover-Hinckley Post 14 in Fairfield. Ralph married Dorothy Robbins on Oct. 11, 1947, and they spent nearly 66 wonderful years together. Ralph and Dot took many trips together on the Main Line bus tours. The two most memorable trips were to the Canadian Rockies and Calgary Stampede, and to the dedication of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Ralph also had many fond memories of the places he visited when visiting his daughter in Georgia and his daughter when she lived in Michigan. Ralph was predeceased by five brothers, Ellis, Frank, Ancil, Clifford and Errol; and two sisters, Winnifred Eames and Elma Davis. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dot; two daughters, Bonnie Williams, and her husband, John, of Byron, Ga., and Rhonda Miller, of Manchester; four grandchildren, Toby Smith and his wife, Winnie, of Warner Robins, Ga., Molly Kay Warmelink and her husband, Mike, of Fishers, Ind., Garrett Gustafson and his wife, Danielle, of Brunswick, and Katie Haley, of Fryeburg; five great-grandchildren, Hunter and Rebecca Smith, Michael Warmelink, and Ella and Hannah Gustafson; several sisters and brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. His favorite "boy," Roscoe, will miss him greatly.Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. with an evening Masonic service to begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at China Baptist Church, China Village. Graveside committal services with military honors will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, at Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
