Phyllis Smith, née en 1927, conjointe de Olin C, fille de Art et Margaret, mère de Scott O, Joseph C, Eleven, William A, Gerald A, Pamela J, Vt et Marilyn M, est décédée le 6 février 2012 à l'âge de 85 ans.
Phyllis L. Smith 1925-2012 Phyllis L. Smith, 85, a longtime resident of Woodford, Vt. and more recently a resident of Rivers Edge Community Care Home in Bennington died Monday February 6, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her family following a long illness. She was born in Readsboro, Vt. March 20, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Art Ward and Margaret Stitt. Phyllis received her education in Readsboro. She married Olin C. "Joe" Smith on March 9, 1945 in Bennington, Vt. Mr. Smith died Nov. 24, 1996. In earlier years Phyllis was employed at several local companies including, Bijur, Union Carbide Corp, Greenbergs and Art Wards. For many years Phyllis owned and operated Smith's Trailer Park in Woodford and also served as Commissioner of the Woodford Cemetery. Phyllis enjoyed traveling throughout New England and swimming with her grandchildren. Her family was her main interest. Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn M. Gardner and her husband Michael of Pownal, Vt., and Pamela J. Monroe and her husband Gary of North Bennington. Two sons, Gerald A. Smith and William A. Smith both of Woodford; Eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by two sons, Joseph C. Smith and Scott O. Smith. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday February 10, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Robin Greene officiating. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. The entombment will take place in Park Lawn Chapel in Bennington with the burial to take place in the family lot in the Woodford Cemetery in the spring. If friends desire contributions in memory of Phyllis L. Smith may be made to either the Bennington Rescue Squad or the Second Chance Animal Shelter through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201. The family would like to thank the staff at Rivers Edge for their loving care that they provided to "Philly" for the past six years.
