Phyllis Kingsbury (nee Smith) of Summit, N.J., passed away at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, N.J., on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at the age of 95. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 25, at Greenwood Gardens in Short Hills at 11 a.m. Arrangements are by Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave., Summit. Phyllis was born in Frankfort, Ind., and lived in Indianapolis, Ind., before moving to Short Hills, N.J., for 39 years and to Summit for the past seven years. Phyllis was an active member of the Millburn-Short Hills community, where she served as a board member of the Neighborhood House in Millburn, N.J.; treasurer of New Eyes for the Needy in Millburn, and a volunteer gardener at Greenwood Gardens. Phyllis was awarded the Township of Millburn "Citizen of the Year" award for her community service. She was also a member of the Short Hills Club and the Unitarian Church in Summit. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, John W. Kingsbury. She is survived by her children, Alice Schloss of Indianapolis, Ind.; Emily Kingsbury of Moorestown, N.J., and John Christopher Kingsbury of Longmont, Colo. Phyllis is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the kind women who gave Mrs. Kingsbury such excellent care.
