Phyllis Smith, née en 1921, conjointe de Walter Smith, fille de Arthur et Emma-Louise, mère de Neil, Vivian et Roy, est décédée.
SMITH-Phyllis Irene (Walker). Phyllis was born July 17, 1921 in Eatonia, SK to Arthur Edward and Emma Louise Walker and went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on January 25, 2006 in Regina, SK. In 1927 she and her family moved to Saskatoon where she attended public school, high school, normal school and classes at the U of S and later classes at the U of R. She fulfilled a childhood dream of becoming a teacher. Her teaching career took her to Paradise Hill, Turtleford rural, Scott, Saskatoon rural, Kamsack, Wilcox and Milestone. In 1949 she married Walter Smith and resided in Wilcox where they raised their family. In 1981 she retired from teaching and the family moved to Milestone. In 1997 they moved to Regina where Phyllis enjoyed attending the Senior's University classes. For several years Phyllis served as the secretary of the Wilcox United Church, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, CGIT leader and president of the UCW and as a member of the Wilcox Recreation Board. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was happiest welcoming family, neighbours, guests and Notre Dame Hounds for meals. In Milestone she served on the Saskatchewan Housing Board and was an active member of the Milestone Seniors Drop In Centre. Phyllis leaves to mourn her husband Walter of 56 years; son Roy Smith; daughter Vivian McKee (Milt); son Neil Smith (Peggy); grandchildren Becky Smith, Bradley Shambel, Ara McKee, Scott McKee (Angie), Ian Smith; brother William Henry Walker; sister-in-law Bernadette Walker; special friends Lynne and Shanneen Ingram, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, a sister Evelyn Eugenia and a brother Donald Arthur. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations most gratefully accepted for the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 7T1 or for Friends of 3B Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 1A5 or because of Phyllis' love of teaching, a scholarship will be established in her honour at the Milestone High School, Attn: Judy Bradley, 400 Prairie Avenue, Milestone, SK S0G 3L0.
