Phyllis G. Smith, 49, Oneco and formerly of Sarasota, died July 16, 2006. She was born Aug. 10, 1956, in Guntersville, Ala., and came to Oneco 15 years ago from Sarasota. She was a member of 11th Street Church of Christ in Palmetto. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Marvin; daughters Priscilla Nicholson, Malissa Sexton and Miranda Gurley, all of Bradenton, Adrienne Gurley of St. Petersburg and Marie Johnson of Sarasota; stepdaughters Lois James of Kansas, Sylvia Mitchell of Atlanta, Catherine Tennell of Tulsa, Okla., Joyce Fenn of Hollywood, Ala., and Vanessa Nicholson of Scottsburg, Ala.; a stepson, Marvin Jr. of St. Louis; sisters Mary Williams of Sarasota and Dora Gurley of St. Petersburg; 23 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Chandler's Funeral Chapel in Sarasota. The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at 11th Street Church of Christ in Palmetto. Burial will be at Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto.
