Audrey Diane Purvis Davis, Ph.D., 46, of Springfield, Va., departed this life on May 28, 2013. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the Central Presbyterian Church, 70 Maple St., Summit, N.J. Visitation is at 10 a.m. until time of services. Arrangements are in the loving care of the Nesbitt Funeral Home, 165 Madison Ave., Elizabeth, N.J. Born and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Davis graduated from Newark Academy in Livingston, N.J.; Tufts University with a bachelor's degree in psychology; American University, Washington, D.C., with a master's degree and George Washington University, Washington, D.C., with a doctorate in clinical psychology. In her formative years, she actively participated in the youth group and the choir at Central Presbyterian Church Summit. Dr. Davis settled in Springfield, Va., where she also raised her family. She spent 10 years as a threat assessment coordinator for Prince William County public schools, Manassas, Va. Prior to this, Audrey performed as clinical researcher at Georgetown University. She was predeceased by her father, Maurice Lee Davis Sr., and her father-in-law, Frank H. Allen II. She is survived by her husband, Frank H. Allen III; her children, Isaiah and Josephine; her mother, Joan Claire Purvis Davis; her sister, Claire M. Davis; her brother, Maurice Lee Davis Jr.; her grandmother, Sallie A. Purvis; her sister-in-law, Desiree Murray; as well as a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins. She will be mourned by her family, many friends, and colleagues. Contributions can be made in her memory to Cancer Research Institute of New Jersey.
