Penny with newborn grandson, Austin PENNY LEE MANNING - COLCHESTER - Penny Lee Manning, 56, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, in Fletcher Allen Health Care, following complications during heart surgery. Penny was born on March 9, 1958, the daughter of Ralph and Virginia (Sweetser) Siple. She graduated from CVU in 1976. Penny worked as an Office Manager for DCF, for the State of Vermont, for several years. She had previously worked 18 years for the City of Winooski. She was married to Thomas Manning on May 26, 1990, in Burlington. Penny loved her family, she was a great mother and spouse, and loved her grandson, Austin, who was her world. She was a very hardworking, loving and caring person. Penny is survived by her loving husband, Tom, of Colchester; their children, Jesse Manning of Colchester, and Jason Manning and fiancee, of South Burlington; grandson, Austin; mother, Virginia "Gina" Gaudette of Winooski; brothers, Samuel Siple and wife, Marilyn, and Steven Siple and wife, Stacie; and several nieces and nephews including her special niece, Candida Siple. Penny was predeceased by her father, Ralph, in 1976; and sisters, Diana Cram in 2002, and Debra Bauer in 2009. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton. Friends may call on the family on Wednesday from Noon to 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
