Peggy Jean Hester Smith, 78, of 204 Ridgecrest Circle, died August 5, 2005, at Allen Bennett Hospital.A native of Greer, daughter of the late Alfred A. and Annie Belle Tillotson Hester, she was a retired employee of The School District of Greenville County and a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Smith of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Peggy Smith; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kenna and David Owens, and Linda and Benny Hannon, all of Greer; and seven grandchildren, Adam and Daniel Smith, Charlotte, Thomas and Catherine Owens, Luke and Reese Hannon.Mrs. Smith was predeceased by two brothers, Cecil A. Hester and George Pierce Hester.Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Memorial United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Arthur Holt, Rev. John Rush and Rev. George Strait. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park.Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. today in the social hall of Memorial United Methodist Church.The family is at the home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 North Main Street, Greer, SC 29650. -- The Wood Mortuary, Inc.
