Peggy McDonald, 72 of Cottondale went home to be with the Lord on March 13, 2011 at Shands hospital in Gainesville. She was born Dec. 2, 1938 in Dothan, AL to James Roy McKay and Juanita McNeese. She had lived in Cottondale all of her life, graduating from Cottondale High School in 1956. She worked for the Cottondale IGA, Tatums Hardware, Kings Drugs and the Jackson County School Board for 31 years as a bus driver. She was also a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Ashley McDonald; sister, Mary Ayers; brothers, Thomas "Buster" Traylor, John McKay and James McKay and grandson, Daniel Paul Opichka II.She is survived by a son, Jimmy Dilmore and wife, Sharon; two daughters, Donna Kolb and husband, Tom, Diane Opichka and husband, Daniel; seven grandchildren, Adam Neel, Brad Neel, Cason Neel, Fletcher Dilmore, Isabella Opichka, McKayla Kolb and Stirling Kolb and special niece, Faye Obert.Funeral services were held March 19, at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Cottondale with the Rev. Jackie Register officiating. Burial followed in the Cottondale Baptist cemetery with Obert Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
