Mrs. Peggy Joyce Holt Carter, 76, of Florence, passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at ECM Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at Greenview Funeral Home. The celebration of her life will be at 1 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. John Bradshaw officiating. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park.Peggy was a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County and a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She was retired from H. D. Lee Co.Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Burdette Holt, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Diane Carter. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Billy Carter; mother, Johnnie Holt; sons, Steve Carter and wife, Kathy, and Bill Carter Jr.; daughter, Angie Gibson and husband, Andy; grandchildren, Kevin (Jamie) Carter, Eric (Kerri) Carter, Andrea and Crystal Carter and Jennifer (Tristan) Martin; great-grandchildren, Makayla Carter, Hattie Carter, Kolt Carter, Madison Jimerson and Cooper Martin; sister, Betty Stockton; several nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Kevin Carter, Eric Carter, Dale Hayes, Steve Hanback, Benji Rumble and Tristan Martin.The family would like to extend loving appreciation to our "Angel," Angie Hanvey, for taking such wonderful care of Mom and our family during Mom's courageous battle with Alzheimer's. We would also like to thank Darlene Roberson for her endless love and support, ECM fifth-and sixth-floor nurses and Dr. Robert Webb for his compassionate care.Granny Carter always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger.
