June 1, 2008 Paul W. Burgess, 54, of Manhattan Ave., Ilion, passed away on Sunday morning, June 1, 2008 in his home. He was born in Syracuse on October 9, 1953, son of the late Norman Burgess and Leona (Waters) Burgess who resides in Mattydale. He attended schools in Syracuse and attended Onondaga and Herkimer County Community College. His marriage to the former Mary Chomycz took place on November 27, 1992 in Ilion. Paul served his country with the United States Army. He was last employed with Affiliated Computer Services, Utica and was also employed at Cavallo's Cigar Bar in New Hartford. He was of the Catholic faith and attended Annunciation Church, Ilion. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Ilion; his mother, Leona of Mattydale; his children, Evan P. Burgess of Ilion, Jessica of New Hartford, Melisa Eddy of Utica, and Christopher Eddy and wife, Christine of Utica; his grandchildren, Isiah, Kara and Mia Basi. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Burgess. In keeping with Paul's wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to his memorial service commencing at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2008 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., between Ilion and Frankfort, 894-8000 with Deacon Jim Bowers officiating. A calling hour will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., prior to the memorial service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse, at the convenience of the family.
