MURPHY, Paul (Eugene)April 9, 1957 – March 5, 2016Passed away peacefully from cancer in North Vancouver after receiving the rites of the Catholic Church. Predeceased by parents Audrey and Ken Murphy and brother-in-law Art Creelman, and survived by very dear long- time friend Debbie Gann; siblings Maureen, Sr. Marie Therese OSC, Bernard (Sue), Louise, Sharon, Desmond, and Leonie (Fred); nieces Kaetlin, Jennifer, Angela, Audrey, and Emma; great-nieces and nephews Cailey, Riley, and Serenity; and many relatives in England. Paul was well known in North Vancouver and much loved for his unfailing kindness, quick wit, and good humour. A former North Shore taxi driver and dispatcher and a HandyDart driver for the past 23 years, he was recently honoured with the Katherine McCleary Award in recognition of his "valuable contributions" to "safety excellence" and "customer service." Prayers will be said Sunday, March 13 at 7 p.m. in Holy Trinity Church, 2725 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 14 at 11 a.m. by Fr. Vincent Hawkswell. All friends are most welcome. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Paul''s favourite charity, which supports poor children: Holy Childhood Association, 2219 Kennedy Rd, Toronto ON. M1T 3G5. The family would like to thank Dr. John Lebrun, and especially the Palliative Care Nurses, Ceilia and Cathy, and Paul''s sister Leonie, RN, who looked after Paul in his last days.
