Paul Edward Taylor, 48, passed away March 22, 2014, at the Bailey Center with his devoted family and friends by his side, after a four-year courageous battle with kidney cancer. Paul was a lifelong heritage native of St. Augustine. He was the owner and operator of Paul Taylor Masonry. He was the "mason extraordinaire" proudly working as a brick mason, being trained by some of the finest Minorcan tradesmen in St. Johns County. Paul helped build many buildings and houses in St. Augustine, including the first San Sebastian Catholic Church where he was a member for his entire 48 years. He was also a member of the St. Augustine Boating Club for over 20 years.He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Laura Strickland Taylor. They have three beautiful children, Jacob (16), Jordan (13) and Jessica (11) and their loyal yellow lab, Sissy. His father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and Paula Strickland, brother-in-law, Stephen Strickland (Fiancé Melissa), his devoted sisters, Mary Ann Taylor, Heather Connahey (John), Kathy Harayda (Michael) and Sarah Law (Patrick), his dedicated brothers, Joseph (Yasmin), Brian (Valerie) and Michael Taylor. Paul's dear nieces and nephews include: Ashleigh, Evan, Joshua, Beth, Tiffany (Chris), Morgan, Eston, Cody, Aidan, Isabella, Sean, Owen, Daniel and Nicole, great nephew, Tristan and great niece, Trinity. He also leaves behind wonderful aunts and uncles and very special cousins. He often said his life would be very empty without his dear cousins! He was preceded in death by his father and mother Lloyd and Ann (Masters) Taylor.Because of Paul's cancer, Team Taylor was formed through the love of friends and family to help him make it through his hard fought cancer journey! Our Team Taylor motto will always be No One Fights Alone!A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at San Sebastian Catholic Church and a committal service follows at San Lorenzo Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at San Sebastian with visitation continuing until 7:30 p.m. at the church.
