Paul E. Kuhl II MONROE TOWNSHIP - Paul E. Kuhl II, 90, died in Monroe Village on Tuesday. Born in Trenton, Mr. Kuhl had been a resident of the Pennington-Hopewell Township area from 1948 to 2004, when he and his wife had moved to Monroe Village. He was a 1939 graduate of Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, VA, and graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, PA, with a degree in economics in 1943. Mr. Kuhl was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the Army in 1943. He served in the European Theater during World War II, where he served in the Battle of Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman's Badge for his service. During the Korean Conflict, he was stationed at Fort Dix and was discharged as major from the U.S. Army Reserve in 1963. Mr. Kuhl was employed by New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company and at the time of his retirement, after 30 years, was manager of the Homeowners Department. Paul was a charter member of the Pennington American Legion First Aid Squad, a member of Pennington Lions Club and a member and former deacon of the Pennington Presbyterian Church. He was also a clerk for the Pennington Municipal Court and a member of the Blawenburg Band. Husband of the late Florence Fitzcharles Kuhl, his wife of 60 years, and son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Paul E. Kuhl, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul E. Kuhl III and Bambi of Lambertville; a daughter and son-in-law, Florence and Russell Raisig; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth and her husband, Scott Simon, Grant Raisig, and Katharine Kuhl. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 North Main St, Pennington. A memorial service will be held at Monroe Village on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
