Patricia Mitzel Henderson Graham formerly of BinghamtonPatricia Mitzel Henderson Graham, of Charlotte, formerly of Binghamton, died January 1, 2002 with her children by her side. She was 81. Patricia was born in Harriman, Pa. June 16, 1920. She was the oldest of four children (Patricia, Eleanor, John and Rosemary) born to John E. Mitzel and Eleanor K. Savercool Mitzel, Binghamton. She is survived by her sisters, Eleanor and Rosemary. After graduating from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Patricia went to work for the Department of Defense during WWII. During this time, she met and subsequently married John B. Henderson, also of Washington, D.C.. The couple moved to Alexandria, Va. and raised a family there. In addition to being a full time mother, Patricia started and ran a successful business services firm for many years. After the death of her husband, John in 1981, Patricia relocated to the west coast and settled in Santa Rosa, Calif. She was very active in the Symphony and the Arts in the San Francisco and Marin communities. Her love of learning led her back to college at the age of 60 where she studied a variety of subjects, including Marine Biology, Viticulture, jewelry design/fabrication and computer science. In 1982, Patricia took a job with Hewlett Packard to utilize her new found interest in computer technology. Patricia had an adventuresome spirit and charm that led her to meet her second husband, Max Graham in 1987. The settled in Las Vegas where they lived until his death in 1999. Patricia moved to Charlotte to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren and resided at the Dorchester retirement community in Pineville, N.C. Pat was a voracious learner who would sit at her computer surfing the Internet for hours at a time researching a wide and varied range of topics. Patricia is survived by her three children, Chris Henderson, San Francisco, Calif., David Henderson and his wife Anne, Alexandria, Va., Lisa Piazzi, Charlotte, N.C.; and her six grandchildren, Jessie, Matthew, Abby, Brooke, Katie and Kevin. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Patricia will be held at the McEwan Funeral Home, 20500 Park Rd., Pineville on Saturday at 2 p.m.
