MILLER, Patricia Ann (Black)January 4, 1942 - January 18, 2013Pat, beloved wife of Bob, passed away peacefully in Blaine, Washington. She will be forever loved by her sons Geoff (Nina) and Chris, her grandchildren Thomas, Brianna and Olivia and her sisters Gloria, Nancy, Carol and their families. Also missing Pat are her brother and sisters-in-law, Jim (Carolyn) Miller with their family and Tom (Laurie) Miller. Born and raised in Elgin, Illinois, Pat graduated as a Registered Nurse. Her natural warmth and understanding made her an outstanding nurse and a very dear friend. In 1971, Bob and Pat moved to Vancouver where they both worked at UBC, raised their two sons, and made lifelong friends. During these years they developed a love for the BC coast, fishing, boating and built a summer home at Bliss Landing. Pat dearly loved her time at Bliss with a view of the water, red geraniums on the patio and special times with her grandchildren. Following their years at UBC, Pat and Bob lived in Seattle (U. of W.) and Santa Cruz (UCSC) where Pat developed a passion for golf. Retiring to Washington State in 2006 brought Pat closer to family and friends. Even after an unfortunate accident five years ago that confined her to a wheelchair, Pat remained cheerful, optimistic and ready to get back on the golf course (thanks to her special golf cart). We have lost a very extraordinary lady who was loved by all and will never be forgotten. A private family service has taken place. A celebration of Pat's life will be held in the spring - date to be announced.
