PAUL, Patricia Laverne October 8, 1937 - September 19, 2014Pat Paul passed away in hospital September 19, 2014 after a short illness. Born in Manitoba October 8, 1937, Pat was the dearly loved daughter of the late John Paul and the late Pauline Georgina Negrych (Manitoba). Pat is survived by close family members Doug and Connie Waddell (Victoria, BC), Jenny Feherty (Canmore, AB), Eliza Waddell (Vancouver, BC), Julie, Darren, Nadia and Cedric Smith (Ottawa, ON). She will be sadly missed by her devoted and caring surrogate family Sue and Tony Cacciato (Ottawa, ON). Pat served as a 1st class petty officer and received the Canadian Forces Decoration while serving in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1969 - 1986 and was stationed in Argentia, Newfoundland and Shelburne, Halifax. After moving to Ottawa and being employed by Computing Devices of Canada, Pat found the job she loved and enjoyed for 15 years, as Receptionist for Lynwood Animal Hospital in Bells Corners, Ottawa. Pat was known for her love of all the animal "clients," remembering every pet by name. A long time resident of Bellview Estates Mobile Home Park, she moved to Thorncliffe Place Retirement Home in 2012 where she soon became best friends with Rocky and Bella, the resident Shih Tzu as well as making friends with many of the human residents. A Celebration of Pat's Life will be held at Pinecrest Remembrance Services, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. A special thank-you is extended to the staff and residents of Thorncliffe Place as well as the medical team at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
