A graduate of the former Chapman Technical High School, Miss Brooks was well known for her intelligence, sense of humor, charm and exquisite taste. Miss Brooks had quite the impressive career in banking. Starting out as a teller, Patricia worked her way up the ladder to vice president of the trust department at the former Hartford National Bank. She had many interesting clients, and provided them with the utmost in conservative investment and private banking advice. Most family gatherings were scored by the harmony of all the sisters and their brothers, (Charlie, Tommy, Bobby, and Jim), and their mother. Miss Brooks also delighted in exploring the world with friends and family, from Bermuda to Europe to Tegucigalpa, Honduras, to Brazil, to Mexico, Hawaii, and California, she was a discerning traveler and loved to have the opportunity to practice her French wherever possible.Every day of her life, Patricia read the newspaper from cover to cover, did the crossword puzzle, jumble, and checked her stocks. Miss Brooks was also an enthusiastic fan of the UConn Women's Basketball team, and often stayed up cheering them on into the wee hours. Scholarship was also extremely important to Patricia and she served for many years as a board member of the Community Foundations of New London. She spent a tremendous amount of time reviewing candidates for merit scholarships, and she thoroughly enjoyed reading their applications, and ultimately selecting the most-qualified candidates.Family was quintessentially important to Miss Brooks. With twenty-four nieces and nephews, thirty great nieces and nephews, and fifteen great-great nieces and nephews, she made an effort to keep in touch with them all. She was always tickled to have visitors, and to go to special family events.
