SOUTHINGTON - Patricia J. Hurley, 65, of Southington, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013.Born in Gardner, Mass., to Richard and Bernice Hurley, she graduated from Gardner High School in 1965, and Emmanuel College in 1969. She received a master's degree in French from Central Connecticut University in 1974, and a sixth year degree in administration and supervision in 1989. Patricia began teaching French and Spanish at DePaolo Junior High in Southington in 1969, and spent her entire career there until retirement in 2003. She was also certified to teach English as a second language. Professional memberships included the Southington Education Association, the Connecticut Education Association, and the National Education Association. Pat enjoyed her summers in Wellfleet, Mass., and spent her retirement summers volunteering at the Cape Cod National Seashore Province Lands Visitors Center, where she provided excellent customer service to staff and visitors. Her contribution of 150 hours per summer made her the center's number one volunteer. Pat loved to travel, loved to read, had a great sense of humor, but most of all she knew how to be a friend. She had a wide circle of friends who have been blessed by her friendship.
