Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Patricia Gail Alexander Brown, age 65, of Toccoa, formerly of Cleveland. Mrs. Brown passed away Friday, July 25, 2014. A celebration of life service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with The Rev. Andy Childs officiating.Gail was born in White County on March 26, 1949, to the late Marlin Alexander and Dicie Palmer Alexander. She graduated with honors from White County High School in 1967 and was named "Chieftain Queen" and was voted "Most Lady Like". Following high school, Gail attended Piedmont College graduating in 1973 with a degree in Early Childhood Education, later she would earned her Masters Degree from Brenau University. She would begin and end her career in education with the Habersham County Board of Education, retiring in 2005 with some 30 years service to the children of Habersham County which she dearly loved. Gail took education very seriously, she was one of the first educators in Habersham County to initiate the Reading and Recovery Program, a program designed to ensure all children had the same access to books. While officially retiring in 2005, Gail continued to teach part time for a number of years. She was a member of the Georgia Retired Educators, The American Association of University Women and along with her husband Randy were members of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Stephens County. Gail will forever remembered for her quite resolve, her love of family and children and the desire to see them learn and grow as well as her giving heart and her unforgettable sense of humor.In addition to her parents, Gail is preceded in death by her brothers, Curtis Alexander and C.L. Dillard; her sisters, Lorene Lowery, LaVaughn Hampton and Edith Tyner.She is survived by her husband, Randy Brown of Toccoa; daughter, Rebecca Shedd and fiance, Vincent Krogmann of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Karl Garcia of Duluth; step-sons, Andrew Brown and Christopher Brown; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Ted Webb of Cornelia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Margie Alexander also of Cornelia, Jack and Gladys Dillard of Rex, Ga.
