Pelletier, Patricia Francoise June 22, 1940 - May 14, 2005 Patricia Francoise Pelletier, IHM was born in Salem, Massachusetts on June 22, 1940 and died on May 14 at City of Hope, after seventeen years as a member of the Immaculate Heart Community. Her faith, hope, and love shone in acts of generosity and grace through the past 30 years as a religion teacher at Ramona Convent High School and as a spiritual director at St. Dorothy's parish in Glendora. She had earned her bachelor's degree from Immaculate Heart College and her master's in religious education from Mount St. Mary's College. In the 90s, Pat founded a program for women in prison at Chino, which flourishes today. She organized joint programs for girls in a detention home and children with learning disabilities at Madonna Hall, Marlboro, Massachusetts in the 60s, after having served six years as a Missionary Sister of the Immaculate Conception in New Brunswick, Canada, with the Maliseet Indians. Pat was a talented concert pianist, who, by the age of 18 was playing at Carnegie Hall. She composed music, was working on her memoirs and collections of short stories, and sold her own landscape photographs for commercial profit. A natural dancer she was never one to shy away from a good Cajun or any other folk dance. Beyond that, she was a gifted liturgical dancer. Her teaching of religion incorporated these art forms. Pat succumbed to complications from pulmonary fibrosis, although she had successfully battled and was a proud survivor of lung cancer She will be remembered for her deep spirituality, her courage and resilience, her commitment to the marginalized, and her work for justice. She is survived by her partner, Diane Solis; by her sister, Carmen Smith; nephews, James and Robert; niece, Katherine; sister, Connie Smith and brother, Anthony Pelletier. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20 in the Family Room at Oakdale Mortuary/Memorial Park, 1401 S. Glendora Ave., Glendora. The Memorial Service will be from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Oakdale Chapel.
