BROWN - Patricia Patricia Brown, of Qualicum Beach, passed away peacefully, 95 years, seven months, and 12 days old, at the Eagle Park Care Facility on Wednesday November 19, 2014. She was born April 9, 1919, in Manchester, England, and came to Canada in 1955. She was pre-deceased by her father, Thomas Jones, in 1966, her mother, Mary Alice Jones, in 1980, and her husband Harold Brown, in 1988. She is survived by her brother, Roy Jones, Qualicum Beach, sons Peter (Colleen), North Vancouver, and Andrew (Cori), Qualicum Beach, and her daughter, Elizabeth (Barry), Nanaimo. Also survived by her niece, Louise Jones, Qualicum Beach; her grandson, Matthew, in Nanaimo; and by four step-grandsons and three great grandchildren. She also leaves the wonderful staff at Eagle Park, whose generosity and understanding made them a special extended family during the past four years. In 1941, as an English telephone operator, she continued to answer the switchboard while the Luftwaffe flew overhead to bomb Coventry. Later, she campaigned door to door for the British Labour party. She was a long term member of the Nanaimo Kiwanis Club, twice chairperson of the Meadows Council in Parksville, for 14 years, a volunteer at the Parksville SOS, and, for twenty years, a member of the Parksville Philosophy Club. Her special gifts were practicality, courage, and tenacity. She loved her family, nature, music, books, and conversation. We are grateful for a long life, well lived. There will be a memorial service at Eagle Park at a later date. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to Volunteer Resources, Eagle Park, Qualcium Beach.
