Patricia A. Wilson November 15, 1930 - July 12, 2009 VOLUNTOWN - Patricia A. Wilson, 78, of Preston City Rd. Voluntown died Sunday at the W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. She was born Nov. 15, 1930 in Westerly, R.I. daughter of the late William and Ruby (Greene) Thomas. On Aug. 2, 1957 she was married to David A.Wilson in Voluntown. He predeceased her. She was active in the Voluntown Baptist Church, the Cub Scouts; later serving on the Board of Directors for many years. She then was active with the Brownies and Girl Scouts in Voluntown. She was president of the Norwich Downtown Business Assn. and was the first woman elected as First Selectman in Voluntown. She was instrumental in the set up of the 911 system and through research at the Otis Library discovered that the State of Ct. was the only caretaker of the Green Falls State Park thereby preventing a nuclear waste dump in the Connecticut State Forest. She was the owner and operator of Pat's Place in Voluntown and Healthway Diet Center in Norwich, retiring from Hansen's Flower Shop. Survivors include three children William LaChapelle and his wife Mary Anne of Voluntown, Sharon Robichaud and her husband Paul of Fl, Dean Wilson and his wife Maggie of Norwich, five grandchildren Jason Langford, Danielle Schulze and her husband Kevin, Michelle Matheson and her husband Dan, Mackenzie Langford, David Wilson and five great-grandchildren; Izabella Barrett, Grace Schulze, Sonja Matheson, Collin Schulze and Abigail Matheson.. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 AM at the Voluntown Baptist Church in Voluntown. Interment will follow in Pachaug Cemetery, Griswold. Calling hours are Tuesday, 6 to 8 PM.
