Patricia A. Smith, 70, of Scotch Plains, N.J., died Sunday, June 12, 2011, in Overlook Medical Center, Summit, N.J. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, N.J. Funeral services and cremation will be private. For additional information or to express condolences, please visit www.fanwoodmemorial.com. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Ms. Smith grew up in Linden, N.J., before moving to Scotch Plains in 1969. She was a graduate of St. Mary of the Assumption High School class of 1958. She also attended Duquesne University and graduated from Seton Hall University with a B.A. in education. She was a school teacher in Westfield, N.J., then worked at AT&T Network Systems (Lucent) as an executive benefits administrator. She retired from Lucent after over 20 years of service. She was most recently employed as an office manager with Stahl, Farella, LLC and Stewart Consulting, LLC in Westfield. Ms. Smith was an active member of the Lucent Retirees Organization (LRO), as well as the Lucent Retirees Benefit Team. She was also a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary R.C. Church in Scotch Plains. She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Michael and Denise, David and Victoria, and Joseph and Melanie; her nieces, Danielle Restaino and Samantha Mongardi, and eight grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Harry, Devon, Edward, Christopher, Alexander and Madeleine. She was predeceased by her former husband, Edward; her parents, John and Claire Burke, and her sister, Arlene Restaino. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering, P.O.
