On the evening of Oct. 31, 2011, God sent for an angel. Patricia A. McGowan passed away peacefully at home in the hands of her loving husband and daughter after fighting cancer for more than a year.Patti, as she was known to all who loved her, was born and raised in Crestview, Fla., the daughter of now deceased William and Elsie Coleman, owners of Coleman's Jewelry. After graduating from Crestview High School, Patti went on to earn a degree as a Registered Nurse. She spent the last 33 years of her life as an Emergency Room Nurse doing what she did and loved best - taking care of the ill and nurturing and caring for people. She truly was an angel on earth before God took her to be his angel. She loved boating, gardening and playing with her two dachshunds, Tobi and Toni, and spending time with her family.She is survived by her husband, Dana E. McGowan Jr.; daughter, Shannan N. Watson; grandson, Micheal Watson (his father, Thomas Watson); sister, Mary Stephens (husband, Donnie); brother, William Coleman Jr.; brother-in-law, Gary McGowan (wife, Dannett); sisters-in-law, Linda Boynton and Sarah McGowan; mother and father-in-law, Dana E McGowan Sr. ( wife, Jean); nephews, Donnie (Skip) Stephens Jr. (wife, Carroll; daughter, Candace), John C. Stephens (wife, Pam; daughter, Meagen; son, Mathew), Jeff Coleman and family; as well as stepdaughter, Melanie Carter; stepson, Sean McGowan; and granddaughter, Alexis Carter (father, Joseph Carter).Funeral services will be held on Nov. 11 at 10:15 a.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola Naval Air Station.You may go online to offer condolences to the family and sign the guestbook at www.heritagegardensfuneralhome.com.
