Pansy Jean “Pat” McCulloch, 77, beloved wife of Wm. J. McCulloch, passed away in Souris District Hospital on April 24, 2009 with her husband by her side. Pat was born Oct. 28, 1931 in Emo, Ont. to Milton George and Rose Mary Hyatt. She was the oldest of five children (Donna, Norman, Pearl, and Sally). She was educated at various places as the family went to different places to make a living in the Depression years of the 1930s. At 14, she helped neighbours with various chores, finally going to work in the tourist camp near Kenora, Ont. From Kenora she went to Winnipeg, Man., where she worked at various jobs from housework to restaurant waitressing. Following her marriage to Herbert C. Clifford, she became a mother to five children. To help support the family, she worked at the T. Eaton & Co. catalogue department and other jobs. Pat was predeceased by her mother, Rose Mary Hyatt; father, Milton George Hyatt; eldest son, Edward Clifford; and her former husband. In 1969, she married Wm. J. McCulloch and lived on the farm for 13 years, after which the farm was sold and they moved to Souris, Man. At this time, Jim drove a school bus and Pat worked as a waitress at the Souris Motor Inn. The children all married, and presented her with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren too numerous to record.
