Paul George MacDonald, 79, of Rotterdam, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2010. Born in Schenectady on September 21, 1931, he was the son of the lateGeorge and Johanna (nee: Heiner) MacDonald. He was raised and educated in the local area and was a lifelong resident. Paul was employed by Schenectady County Highway Department for 39 years until his retirement in 1991. Paul is remembered by his family as a loving and helpful man who was a beloved friend and neighbor. Paul was predeceased by his first wife, Sophie MacDonald; three sisters, Ethel, Mable and Elmal; his brother, John; and many beloved pets. Survivors include, his children, John (Janet Redmond) MacDonald, Paula (Eric Townsend) Reger and Aaron MacDonald, all of Rotterdam; and their mother, Evan Johns; his stepchildren, Jesse, Alan and Winston Chivers, all of Florida; five grandchildren, Christina, Linda and Caroline Reger, Alana MacDonald and Kyle Kelly; beloved friends including, George (Kathy Smith) Hollenbeck, Jim Jimenez and Dave Harper; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and his devoted canine, Shadow. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12 noon at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady, followed by interment in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the funeral home prior to the service.
