ObituaryPatricia Smith passed away July 27, 2010 in Fort Myers. The daughter of John and Dorothy (Grimm) Foerster, she was born and raised in the Chicago area. She attended Illinois State University and Northern Illinois University, earning a MA degree in speech and theater. In Illinois, she taught at Waubonsee College, Kishwaukee College, Northern Illinois University, Loyola University of Chicago, and Northwestern University. After moving to Fort Myers, she taught at Edison College.A member of the union of professional costumers, she founded the firm of West End Costumes, which specialized in historic garments. She also pursued a second career in the area of travel and tourism, working for Delta Air Lines, as well as several agencies in the Chicago area, andteaching college courses in this field.She is survived by her husband Elwood Smith of Fort Myers, and her brother Michael Foerster of Bristol, Wisconsin. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, Sept. 4th at the Sanibel Congregational UCC Church at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
