<!-- FH = Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Seymour -->Opha (Bette) Elizabeth AndersonOpha Elizabeth (Bette) Hooten was welcomed into the world April 3, 1914 to James B. Hooten and Martha E. (Good) Hooten, and two brothers, Cecil and Otto Hooten. Their home was located in the High Prairie community, between Marshfield and Duncan, Missouri. Opha's fraternal grandparents lived a short distance away and life was good for the rural family. Four years later, the family welcomed another sibling, Opal Lucille Hooten. Shortly after her arrival Jim and Emmie moved to the Teagues community to live on the farm of Opha's grandfather, David R. Good. Opha passed into the Spirit life December 27, 2011, in St. John's Mercy Villa, Springfield, Missouri.Opha's young life was filled with friends and neighbors as they attend Teagues School which also offered church, pie suppers, sangings, and chivalries. At the age of eighteen Opha married Roy Aldrich Anderson. Four years later they were blessed with a daughter, Carolyn Joy. Soon the young couple built a house on acreage in the Alberta community. The family was blessed a second time with another daughter, Linda Louise.Bette, as she was known by her family and friends, spent her young married life as a typical farm housewife. She later worked for Whites Department Store on the square in Seymour, Missouri. She was a member of the Seymour First Baptist Church where she enjoyed attending the Baptist Women Circle. Bette was a past fifty year member and Worthy Matron of the Seymour chapter 144 Order of Eastern Star.Bette was instrumental in organizing the first chapter of the Rainbow Girls of Seymour, and was a Mother Advisor for several years. She was a past member of the Cross of Colors of the Supreme Assembly of the International Order of Rainbow Girls.She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Roy Anderson.Bette Anderson is survived by two daughters, Joy Cotton and Delton of Ozark, Missouri, and Linda Loveland and George of Springfield, Missouri.; her sister Opal Lucille Brown of Ozark, Missouri; four grandchildren Trish Thompson and Hank, Cindy Heavin and Russ, Rebecca Loveland, Joel Loveland and Roseanna; five great-grandchildren Matthew Thompson and Apple, Grand Thompson and Anna, Lindsey Jones and Darrin, Devin Loveland and Tristan Loveland.; six great-great-grandchildren Tanner, Sarah, Brayden, Trevor, Ashlan, and Ellie Thompson; Vicki Box of Mansfield, Missouri, whom was raised as one of her own; her niece Judith Lauricha and nephew James Hooten, both of California.Bette was a faithful woman that loved her family and gave back to her community. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the memories she created for all who knew and loved her.Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. December 31, 2011 in the Holman Howe Chapel. Burial will follow at Seymour Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Holman Howe Funeral Homes of Seymour. Online condolences may be left at www.holmanhoweseymour.com. The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Order of the Eastern Star, or choice of the donor.
