BROWN, Ollie B. Guthrie, a lifelong resident of Andalusia, Alabama died on February 5, 2006 at John Knox Manor, in Montgomery, Ala-bama. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Foreman Brown - Service Funeral Home in Andalusia, Ala-bama with Herbert Carlisle officiat-ing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Brown will be buried at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery following the service. Mrs. Brown was born on March 5, 1914 in the Dixie community to the late Gus and Nancy Guthrie. As a teenager, she moved to Andalusia where she lived an active and productive life. Mrs. Brown was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Andalusia. She enjoyed her church, her family, her friends, her business, and her volunteer and civic work in the Andalusia community. For many years, she owned and oper-ated Brown's Pot-Clean Laundry. She was a valued member of the Pilot Club of Andalusia where she was affectionately known as the ""pancake lady"" due to her dedi-cated efforts to sell pancake break-fast tickets and cook the pancakes for the annual Pilot Club Pancake Breakfast, which raised scholarship funds for deserving young students in the Andalusia area. Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her hus-band, William Herman Brown, Her parents, and each of her four broth-ers and four sisters, and two stepsons, Eugene Brown and Mar-cus Brown. She is survived by her son, Daniel Levon Lindsey (Kate), grandson, Daniel L. Lindsey, Jr. (Genie), all of Montgomery, Ala-bama, and granddaughter, Molly Lindsey Powell (Ed) of Brentwood, Tennessee. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, George Edward, III, Andrew Henry, John Daniel and Owen Kalem Powell of Brentwood, Tennessee, and Anna Kate, Daniel Levon, III ""Trey"", James Etheridge ""Ridge"" and Judson New-ell Lindsey of Montgomery, Ala-bama. Mrs. Brown is also survived by her stepson, William Robert Brown (Judy) of Houston, TX, her sis-ter-in-law, Loreen Guthrie, and by her dear friend and caregiver, Vir-ginia Ann Owens. Pallbearers will be Daniel Lindsey, Jr,. Ed Powell, Jr., Edward Powell, III, Andrew Powell, John Powell, Ronald Picking, Mike Cassidy, and James Krudop. Mrs. Brown, who was lovingly called "" Mama Brown"" by her extended family, will always be remembered by her friends and family as a hap-py, fun loving, compassionate, generous and independent wom-an who believed in hard work, edu-cation, being a good neighbor and enjoying each day and living life to the fullest. She truly had a zest for life and took great joy in play-ing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flow-ers, the family requests that memo-rials to be made to the First Presby-terian Church of Andalusia, Ala-bama 223 South Three Notch Street, Andalusia, Alabama 36420-0709.
