Olive M. Johnson, 87, of Schenectady, passed away at Our Lady of Mercy Nursing Home in Guilderland, NY, where she had been a resident. Born on July 13, 1923 in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Elizabeth Bubb. She was a graduate of St. Columba's Academy in Schenectady and attended Spencer Business Institute. Olive worked as a school bus driver with Guilderland Central School for over 22 years until her retirement. She was a lifelong area resident. Olive was a communicant of the St. Madeleine Sophie Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved to go camping at Caroga Lake with her family, was an avid crafter, bowler and worked on town elections and served on the board of elections. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Harold M. Johnson, whom she married on June 10, 1944. He passed away in 2003. Survivors include her two sons, Harold (Anita) Johnson of Schenectady and Mark (Debra) Johnson of Schenectady; four daughters, Phyllis (John) Shortsleeve of Connecticut, Anita (Robert) Lopez of Schenectady, Marcella (Robert) Miller of Florida and Sarah (John) Moore of Rotterdam; a brother, Philip (Dorothy) Bubb, Jr. of Schenectady; 13 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:15 a.m. at Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State Street, Schenectady, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Rd., Schenectady. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of Our Lady of Mercy, and especially to the Rosary Unit of the nursing home.
