Hokes Bluff - Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Baptist Church for Norma Jean Taylor Smith, 80, of Hokes Bluff, who died Monday, December 17, 2012. The Rev. Anthony Copeland will officiate services. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Anniston. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Taylor; husband of 59 years, Phillip E. Smith; and daughter, Jenny Karen Pond. Mrs. Smith was born in Etowah County at Kershaw Quarters. She was a devoted Christian and member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for 40 years. She was a devoted home maker, given to hospitality and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Mrs. Smith is survived by her six children, Meg Lynnette (Aubrey) Wood, Oneonta; Phillip Barry (Jeanne) Smith, Hokes Bluff; Jeanne Nan (Steve) Latham, Hokes Bluff; Jack Bryan (Janet) Smith, Gadsden; Merrie Beth (Mark) Howell, Weaver; and Ellen Rosanne (Ron) Bean, Hartselle; son-in-law, David Pond, Louisville, Ky.; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Judith Taylor (Hugh Don) Camp, Oneonta; sisters-in-law, Faye, Betty and Martha Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Glenn Wade, Jonathan Smith, Keith Smith, Daniel Tinney, Aron Smith, Nathan Smith, Samuel Smith, David Latham and Lemuel Howell. Honorary pallbearer will be Brandon Smith. Special thanks to caregivers, Christy Alexander, Jessie Alexander, Susan Bragg, Kristy Langford, Gentiva Home Health, Lawley Hospice and Alex and David Bass. Mrs. Smith will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services.
