Newton Steele Ritter, III, 64, died Oct. 13, 2008, at his home. He was born in Richmond, Va., and lived in Jensen Beach for 35 years, coming from Fort Walton Beach. He was a lifelong law enforcement officer, serving 15 years with the Florida Highway Patrol and 18 years with the Martin County Sheriff's Office. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Jensen Beach and a 32nd Degree Master Mason with the Stuart Chapter Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Anne Ritter; daughters, Virginia Anne Ritter and Christin Renee Ritter, both of Jensen Beach; sons: William Steele Ritter , and James Eric Ritter, both of Stuart; brother, James Ritter of Fort Walton Beach; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Newton Ritter II and Virginia Ritter. Memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 S.E. Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997or Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranch, P.O. Box 2000, Boys Ranch, FL 32064. SERVICES: A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Oct. 18 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2221 S.E. Savannah Road, Jensen Beach. Arrangements are by All County Funeral Home and Crematory Treasure Coast Chapel.
