JOHNSON Nellie "Scunch" Johnson, age 70, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 26, 2009 in Ludlowe Health Center, Fairfield. She was born on May 13, 1939 in Florence, S.C. to the late Eddie and Mary Alice (James) Johnson. She had been an area resident for just over fifty years and was previously employed with Laidlaw Transit Company. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sylvia Jphnson and Catherine (Paul) Whitaker; five grandchildren' seven great-grand-children; three godchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by daughter, Susie Johnson and her brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jaunary 4, 2010 in Friendship Baptist Church, 235 Albert St., Stratford with Rev. Johnny Gamble officiating. Friends may greet the family from 10 am until time of service at the church. Interment will immediately follow service in Park Cemetery, 620 Lindley St., Bridgeport. Arrangements entrusted to George J. Peterson Funeral Home, 1041 Noble Ave., Bridgeport.
