Nell Hughes Gunter CHARLESTON, SC-- Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 23, 2009, Nell Hughes Gunter, widow of William K. Gunter, Jr., resident of Charleston, SC, formerly of Gaffney, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at 11:30 AM at the graveside in Oakland Cemetery, Gaffney, SC. Mrs. Gunter was born June 8, 1914, in Reidville, SC, the daughter of Rufus Coke Hughes and Lou Ethel Hughes. She was a 1936 graduate of Limestone College. After thirty-one years, she retired from teaching with the Cherokee County School System. She was a member of The First Baptist Church in Gaffney. She is survived by four nieces, Judy Young of Charleston, SC, Jan Young Easterby and her husband Ronald G. of Charleston, SC; Nancy Hughes Lynn and her husband Adrian G. (Butch) of Wellford, SC and Joan Gunter McCauley and her husband William H. of Greenville, SC; two nephews, John William Hughes of Wellford, SC and Dave C. Gunter, Jr. and his wife Ann of Tryon, NC; brother-in-law, Dr. Dave C. Gunter of Greenville, SC and many great-nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials may be made to The First Baptist Church, 200 North Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC 29340 or to The Bishop Gadsden Residents Assistance Fund, 1 Bishop Gadsden Way, Charleston, SC 29412.
