Retired Chemical Engineer AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Thursday, May 04, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital, Mr. Neil A. Johnson, 77, husband of Mary H. Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a native of Minnesota but had resided in the Augusta area since 1953 when he came to work as a chemical engineer at E. I. DuPont where he was active with a task group which was involved in numerous engineering projects with the computer systems on site. He was instrumental in the founding of Augusta Swim League, Kingston Swim Team, and various other swimming events. He was a member of St. Mary On-The-Hill Catholic Church. Family members in addition to his wife include his sons, James Andrew Johnson and wife, Susan of Atlanta, David Neil Johnson of Augusta, Mark Randle Johnson and wife Lynn of Atlanta, Paul Erwin Johnson and wife, Pamela of Augusta; daughter, Suzanne Marie Talarek and husband, Ted of Canton, NY; sister, Darlene Helland of Austin, MN; brother, Eldon Johnson and wife, Dona of Raleigh, NC and eight grandchildren. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 6, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary On-The-Hill Catholic Church with Rev. Gerald Ragan celebrant. Pallbearers will be members of Richmond County Sheriffs Department and Georgia State Patrol. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
