Naomi Jean Brissette, age 68, died Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Madison, Wis., due to complications resulting from a long illness.She was born on April 5, 1936 in Milwaukee, the only child of Ruth Flanagan. Naomi attended Owen High School in Owen, Wis., graduating in 1954. In 1960 she married Arthur Brissette and in 1965 the two moved to Bridgeport. The Brissette family moved to Bethel in 1969.Arthur preceded Naomi in death on October 3, 1983. In 1990, Naomi moved back to Wisconsin, settling in Madison. Naomi was a strong-willed person who overcame several personal hardships during her youth, but also possessed a fun-loving spirit, warm personality, a superb sense of humor, and a generous heart, donating year after year to several charities throughout the United States.She enjoyed the long-term friendships she made with her high school classmates and was active in the Friends of the Old School. She loved to collect dolls and stuffed animals and her home is adorned with dozens of them that each have their own name and place of honor. Most of all, Naomi was a loving mother and devoted grandmother who was always ready with advice and support whenever there was a problem. Every Christmas her grandchildren could count on piles of presents arriving in the mail. She could make friends anywhere and enjoyed traveling until health problems limited her ability to leave her home.She is survived by her sons: Joseph, Thomas, Michael, Richard and David; and grandchildren: Paige, Luis, Sam, Naomi, Michael and Grace.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, Wis., with Monsignor Terrance L. Connors officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
