PETERS-DUNAIF--Nancy, M.D. Dr. Nancy Peters Dunaif, age 85, died peacefully on November 18, 2008 of cerebrovascular disease. She was the widow of Samuel L. Dunaif, M.D., a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, who practiced in New York City and White Plains, NY. She used her maiden name professionally. Dr. Peters was born in Seneca Falls, NY, where her parents operated a dairy farm. She graduated from Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences and Cornell University College of Medicine. She received her psychiatric training at the Cornell University Division of Bellevue Hospital. Dr. Peters maintained a private psychiatric practice and was the consulting psychiatrist for the Yonkers public school system for over 30 years. In addition, she supervised the training of child psychiatry fellows at Cornell University College of Medicine's Westchester Division. She was also a consulting psychiatrist for the Hawthorne Cedar Knolls and St. Mary's in the Fields schools as well as for Leake and Watts Services, Inc. She retired from practice in 2001. She is survived by her children, Andrea, Matthew, Alexandra and Anthony, her sister, Elaine Hemmer, and her grandchildren, Emily, Andrew, Anya and Griffin. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 3 2:00pm at Trinity Episcopal Church, Ossining, NY. Donations to American Ballet Theatre are suggested in lieu of flowers.
