CHESTER - Nancy Neely Anderson, 81, died Jan. 17, 2012, at her residence in Chester. She was born June 3, 1930, in Abington, Pa., the daughter of Charles Raymond Bailey and Elizabeth Gansert Bailey. She attended Abington High School and lived in Pennsylvania for many years. She moved with her family to Vermont in 1973, where she lived until she retired. She worked in various capacities of the restaurant business most of her life, and was well known to many guests and locals at The Chester Inn in Vermont, where she worked for several years. Her interests involved her love for the outdoors, which included gardening, cross-country skiing, tennis and golf. She spent her later years living in New Port Richey, Fla., during the winter and Clio, Mich., during the summer. She was active in her church, and was also a member of The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband Ronald C. Anderson on July 14, 2011. Survivors include her five children, Stephen C. Groshens of Chester, Sally E. Drexler of Doylestown, Pa., Nancy B. Groshens of Jamison, Pa., Scott M. Neely of Cuttingsville, and Polly A. Neely of Chester; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Dave Anderson, Jane Thoms and Amy Mitchell, all of Flushing, Mich.; five step-grandchildren; a sister, Marylou Christy of Flower Mound, Texas; a nephew and two nieces. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at The First Baptist Church of Chester. A reception will follow at the American Legion in Chester. She will be inurned at High Street Cemetery in Chester, and Bethany United Methodist Church memorial garden in Clio, Mich. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 67, P.O. Box 75, Chester, VT 05143.
