She was born March 6, 1926 in Athens, TN to the late F.O. and Annie Lou Nankivell Mahery. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harry Gantt Williams, Jr.; infant son, Harry Gantt Williams III; sister, Elizabeth Ann Mahery Squires; brothers, F.O. Mahery, Jr., James N. Mahery and Charles C. Mahery.Nancy is survived by two daughters, Pamela Anne Williams Scholefield and her husband Peter James Scholefield of Malvern, England, and Patricia Williams Greek and her husband James Norman Greek of Athens, TN; two grandchildren, Joanna Catherine Scholefield and Harry Francis Scholefield; oldest and best friend, Ella Beesley. She attended Gulf Park School in Gulf Port, MS and graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York City. Nancy worked for TVA as a cartographer during the Korean War, and later served as a volunteer for St. Thomas Hospital for 17 years. She was a great mom, and grandmother. She was a member of Centennial Club, St. George's Episcopal Church, Vanderbilt Bridge club where she held the rank of Master. While her husband was Agency Director with State Farm, Nancy enjoyed her support role as "The Woman Behind the Man" and was an intricate part of his successful career.Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at St. George's Episcopal Church, with visitation immediately following.
