Nancy J. O'Connor Harris, 86, of Troy died April 11, 2014, at the Teresian House surrounded by her family. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Josephine O'Connor and the wife of the late William J. Harris. She was educated at Catholic Central High School, class of 1945 and was also a graduate of Saint Peter's Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1949. Nancy was employed as a registered nurse at Saint Mary's Hospital in Troy for more than 30 years, later volunteering at the hospital. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, a member of the St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association and St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by three children, Eileen Harris Warzek and her husband James, Mark B. Harris, and K. Scott Harris and his wife Nancy; a daughter-in-law, Kate Harris; nine grandchildren, Kelly (William) Deerfield and Jim Warzek, Kristine (E'Stephan) Garcia and Erika Harris, Mark and Jessica Harris, and Jennifer, Rebecca and Kevin Harris; two great grandchildren, Alana and Liam Garcia; a sister-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" O'Connor; and several nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her son, William J. Harris, III; and by her siblings, Eileen R. Blake and Daniel A. O'Connor. A special thank you goes to the staff of the Teresian House for their loving care and dedication to Nancy. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday from the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home, 510 Pawling Ave., at Parkview Court, Troy and at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Troy, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
