Nancy Whitehead Edwards, 87, of Rolling Green Village, Greenville, S.C., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 9, 2007.She grew up in Chatham, Va., spent most of her adulthood in Danville, Va. and moved to Greenville twelve years ago.Mrs. Edwards was the devoted daughter of the late U.S. Congressman Joseph and Ruth Whitehead and the wife of the late Clarence H. Edwards. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. Her greatest love in life was for her large family. She offered encouragement and unconditional love to everyone.Surviving are her daughter, Jayne Berv of Savannah, Ga. and her husband Elliott; her son, Clarence Edwards, Jr. of Greenville, S.C. and his wife Betty; her grandchildren, Jodie Parker of Ellijay, Ga., Joe Ragland, Jr. of LaGrange, Ga., David Ragland of Columbus, Ga., Tripp Edwards of Metairie, La., Christopher Edwards of Charlotte, N.C., and Lael Green of Birmingham, Ala.; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.Funeral services will be Saturday, August 11, 2007, at 3 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home in Chatham, Va. Rev. Mikel Pugh of the Chatham Presbyterian Church, of which Mrs. Edwards was a member as a young women, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Chatham Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the Alzheimer's Disease Education and Referral Center, P.O.
