POWAY, CA-- Nancy Buice Brown, 65, wife, mother, and friend, died Sunday, November 27, 2005, at Pomerado Hospital in Poway, CA.Born May 7, 1940, in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Earle and Dorothy M. Buice. She attended Pine Street Elementary and Cleveland Junior High Schools and graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1958. Nancy attended Queens College in Charlotte, NC, and then transferred to Converse College in Spartanburg where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962. On August 12, 1960, she was united in marriage to C. Dean Brown in Spartanburg. Nancy was an elementary school teacher in Norfolk, VA, and Woodbridge, VA. Being married to a U.S. Naval officer required her to move the growing family across the country several times, with occasional stops in the Far East and Hawaii. Nancys family settled and remains in Poway, CA, since 1979.Surviving in addition to her husband, Dean, are her son, Robert Brown and his wife Laura of Carlsbad, CA; her daughter, Elizabeth Brown of Poway, CA; two grandchildren, Gabriel and Micaela Brown of Carlsbad, CA; a sister, Mary Leslie Buice Patterson of Lenoir City, TN; and a brother, John Thomas Buice of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by a brother, William Earle Buice, Jr.Memorial services for Nancys family and friends in California were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2005, at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary, 13243 Poway Road, Poway, CA, conducted by her son, Robert Brown.Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2005, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg,SC, conducted by the Rev.
